A New Way to Control Your Instagram Experience
Instagram is introducing a new way to help you better shape what you see—starting with the Reels tab. As your interests evolve, your feed should too. Now, with the help of AI, your algorithm can adapt alongside you.
Instagram has always been a space to explore your passions and stay connected with others. With this latest update, you get more meaningful control over your content, making it easier to personalize your experience and discover what truly matters to you.
See and Control Your Reels Algorithm
While watching Reels, you’ll now notice a new icon in the top right corner (two lines with hearts). Tapping it opens Your Algorithm, where you can view and adjust the topics influencing your recommendations.
Here’s what you can do:
1. View Your Top Interests
See a snapshot of the topics Instagram believes you’re most interested in, displayed right at the top.
2. Customize Your Preferences
Easily adjust your feed by selecting topics you want to see more or less of. Your Reels will quickly adapt to reflect your choices.
3. Share Your Interests
You also have the option to share your algorithm with your followers via Stories, giving others a glimpse into what you enjoy.
You can also access this feature anytime by going to Settings and activity → Content preferences → Your algorithm.
A More Personalized Experience, Powered by AI
This update marks a step forward in giving users more control over their content. Starting with Reels, Instagram plans to expand this feature to Explore and other areas of the app in the near future.
The rollout begins in the U.S. today, with global availability in English coming soon. As this feature evolves, Instagram will continue refining the experience to make recommendations even more relevant and personalized.
