Expanded AI Translations for Reels
Updated January 16: AI-powered translations for Reels are now rolling out across more languages on Instagram and Facebook, including Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, and Kannada. These additions expand on existing support for English, Hindi, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Meta is also introducing translation features powered by Meta AI, allowing creators to translate Reels into Hindi and Portuguese, alongside English and Spanish—with more languages coming soon.
Reach a Global Audience with Ease
With this update, creators can break language barriers and connect with audiences worldwide. Reels can now be automatically dubbed and lip-synced at no cost, making it easier to grow an international following.
The translations preserve your original voice’s tone and style, ensuring your content still feels authentic. Optional lip-syncing aligns your mouth movements with the translated audio, creating a natural viewing experience.
You remain in full control—translations can be enabled, reviewed, edited, or removed at any time.
New Features Coming Soon
Meta is also working on additional tools to make global reach even simpler:
- Auto-translated text and captions: Stickers and captions will soon be translated automatically into supported languages.
- Multi-speaker translation: Soon, Reels featuring multiple speakers will also be translatable.
Early Success with Creators
Since launching English–Spanish translations, creators have already seen success in reaching new international audiences and expanding their global presence.
How to Translate Your Reels
Getting started is simple:
Before publishing your Reel, turn on “Translate voices with Meta AI.”
Open Translation settings to enable lip-syncing and choose your target languages.
Preview and approve translations before publishing, if desired.
If the option isn’t visible, check under More options.
Once translations are ready, you’ll receive a notification to either publish or discard them—your original Reel remains unchanged.
After publishing, you can view performance insights, including a breakdown of views by language.
Best Practices for Better Results
